What happens when sodium react with oxygen?

Sodium    react with Oxygen  to form: SodiumOxide Sodium react without oxygen to form sodium oxide. 4Na(s)+O2(g)---->2Na2O(s) Here, Sodium is metal which is in solid state. Oxygen is nonmetal which is in gaseous state. In above reaction, Na loses one electron to form Na+ cation and Oxygen gain two electrons to form O2-anion to complete octet for stability. Finally, these  bothcation and anion forms a compound Na2O .
Q)WHY Sodium(Na) and Potassium (Ka)are kept in kerosene ? Ans~Sodium and potassium are kept in kerosene because both these metals are highly reactive metals .These metals are easily react with oxygen and moisture(H2O). 4Na(s)+O2(g)------->2Na2O(s) Potassium react with oxygen to form : K2O and K2O2 Only.

Define chemistry?

Hello students, Today we are going to tell about the one of the most important subject ~CHEMISTRY Q1) What is chemistry? Ans) Chemistry is a branch of science that deals with the composition, structure and properties of the substances. Q2)What are types (branch)of chemistry? Ans) There are three types or branch of chemistry: (a) Inorganic chemistry. (b) Physical chemistry. (c) Organic chemistry. Q3) What is inorganic chemistry? Ans)The branch of chemistry that deals with the information about the inorganic substances such as : Na,KI,B,N,H,K,e.t.c. Q4)What is Physical chemistry? Ans) the branch of chemistry that deals with the about subatomic ,atomic, and very smallest particle of it's some nature such as thermodynamics f,energy, work, motion ,fluidity ,refractive index r,power ,etc. Q5) What is organic chemistry? Ans)the branch of chemistry that deals with the research ofthe compounds of carbon and hydrogen which are maximum percentage present in living...
